
Dr. Slobodan Petrovic
Solar Hope President, Dr. Slobodan Petrovic is a professor in the Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy Department at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Portland, OR. He has over 25 years of experience in the energy field in academia, industry, and government research labs.
In 2009, Dr. Petrovic volunteered in Tanzania, Africa as a solar specialist where he assisted with installations of solar photovoltaic systems in rural areas of Tanzania. During this trip he developed a vision for solving the global energy challenge through ambitious and aggressive programs in the world’s developing countries. Solar Hope was started in 2010 with the ambitious goal to change the energy outlook for Africa and at the same time transform the existing ineffective principles of International Development which have created distrust between the developing countries and the International Community. Through academic programs, Dr. Petrovic is cultivating new generations of engineers to use their education towards solving global energy issues while respecting the highest humanitarian principles.
